Story

Oh my goodness!  24th May and my site has hit over $10,900  How fantastic you all are!  Well done to each and everyone for your generousity.YOU ARE THE "STARS"

A special heart felt thank you to the anonymous $1000 donor. I would love to be able to thank you in letter and person. So many people on the Monaro will benefit from your generousity - THANK YOU

Wow Louie!  What fantastic nights you have provided for the "Stars" at your Cooma Hotel. So much fun, laughter and excitement. My moneys on Bridget after her dance routine at the Calcutta!  So jealous of her rhythm!
Addit - saw Gordo do his moves on Sat at a party with a live band - WOW - He may dust us all!!!

Well the nerves are really starting to kick in and my dance partner has gone to Sydney!!!  So much for last minute practice!  Thanks for advice from some re brandy or industrial strength alcohol. That may calm the nerves but I am sure it would send me flying off the stage into the laps of the judges. I'm sure that would NOT gain me marks.

Came to the Monaro 30 years ago for one year. Saw a wild looking farmer called Sid and fell madly in love. Also was bowled over by the the stunning landscape of the Monaro Plains.

I am now the oldest and longest serving Community Nurse in Cooma. Waiting for my telegram (or is that fax/email?) from the Prime Minister!

We have 3 adult children in scattered locations around Australia. Twins George and Simon and daughter Hannah. The hard yards of raising kids are over. So now we have a motorbike and have done many great rides around Vic and NSW. Sid is even wilder looking now!

Love my nursing career in Community Health. Have wonderful work colleagues  who make coming to work a joy. Every day I meet people who have their own story to tell.

I see first hand (as a nurse and as a committee member) the benefits of what the MCCR are doing for our community.

I am representing the Monaro Farming Women who stand by their men through off and on drought, poor wool prices and ups and downs in cattle markets – All with a SMILE AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE!!!!! - well at least sometimes!

Strongly representing the Monaro nurses and allied health workers who in my eyes are “simply the best”!

Thanks so much to Luke O' Sullivan who has volunteered to teach me the extraordinary art of dancing. Thank goodness he is bald. Hope he does not start pulling out his teeth in frustration. Better purchase a mouth guard for him. So enjoying the challenge of this fund raising project. We are determined to have lots of fun and enjoy the journey.

What a great cause!

Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated

The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
